Markdale residents will notice a new water tower in town next year.
At its most recent meeting, Council gave the green light to Burlington based Landmark Structures Co. to do the work.
The project was approved in the 2017 budget and is estimated to cost roughly $5.3 million funded through users of the Grey Highlands Water Systems and Water Development Charges.
A report from municipal staff says, “It will be financed through a debenture with Infrastructure Ontario as a construction loan, which will be converted to a fixed long term loan once the project is completed.”
The municipality had applied for nearly $2 million through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: Green Stream, but was turned down because the grant intake was highly competitive.
The tower will have a volume of 2,900 m3 and a high-water level of 470 m.
The project is expected to be done in December 2021.
