With only a few days left before kids return to class, there are concerns being raised over the recent increase in COVID-19 cases among kids in the region.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s medical officer, Dr Charles Gardner, went over the local numbers in his latest update yesterday.
There have been seven Barrie kids under 18 who have tested positive for COVID-19 since August 25th.
Gardner said, “It’s not a good time for us to be seeing an increase in transmission among children,”
Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported yesterday, including a Barrie boy. Click here for more details.
However, Gardner is assuring parents that kids have shown resilience against the virus and there has only been one child death linked to COVID-19 in the province since the pandemic began.
