The Ontario Liberal party has launched a new whistle-blowing website for parents, students and education workers to detail their back-to-school experiences.
The launch of the KeepOurSchoolsSafe came one day after Ontario’s four major teachers unions announced they would file appeals with the labour relations board over the Ford government’s back-to-school plan.
They claim it does not adequately protect workers.
“Across Ontario, Moms and Dads are anxious about the safety of their children and are still looking for answers a week away from Labour Day. They still don’t know what will happen if a student in their child’s class is sick – they don’t even know if they will be informed,” said Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.
“We need everyone’s help to share local stories and concerns about back to school. We want to hear about how teachers, caretakers and support staff have stepped up to help make the transition back to school better because Doug Ford has been missing in action.”
“Because when we are talking about the safety of our students, parents and education workers, we have to get it right.”
“I am proud to stand with students, parents and everyone who works on the front lines in education. Together we will hold the government accountable for dropping the ball on the reopening of our schools,” concluded Del Duca.
