The Upper Grand District School Board has had to make some changes to the staggered entry for back to school.
The board says it’s to ensure the safety of students and to provide additional time for staffing schools.
Revised staggered entry schedules for elementary schools, secondary schools and the board’s full-time remote learning schools are posted on the board website at www.ugdsb.ca/fall2020entry.
Board officials say the reason that additional time is required, is due to the extension of the board’s student pre-registration period, which pushed back staffing timelines and also impacted the time available for schools to timetable and schedule appropriately.
Staggered entry will take place over a two-week period and the schedules, which have changed from what was previously communicated can be found at www.ugdsb.ca/fall2020entry.
Students in the self-contained developmental programs will continue to start school full-time on Tuesday September 8, while in elementary schools, staggered entry will be done using an alphabetical model, with staggered entry beginning on Thursday Sept. 10 and secondary schools, school reorganization will take place on Sept. 8 and 9th.
Grade 9 orientation sessions will be held on Sept. 10 and 11, with students in all grades beginning instruction on Monday Sept. 14.
Students enrolled in the UGDSB’s elementary remote school will begin on the 14th or 15th while students in secondary remote school will begin on Sept. 14.
