Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced two new agreements with companies to provide millions of doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
Trudeau says the agreements reached with Novavax (PR: Nova-Vax) and Johnson and Johnson cover the creation of vaccines which are currently being developed.
If one gets approved, he says Canadians will have access to the necessary doses.
“Taken together, our vaccine agreements with Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax and Johnson and Johnson will give Canada at least 88 million doses with options to obtain tens of millions more,” said Trudeau.
Once a vaccine is proven to work, the PM says $126 million in Federal money will help expand biomanufacturing of the vaccine at the National Research Council property in Montreal.
A new facility to achieve it is expected to be up and running there by mid-2021.
