It’s election day in Saugeen First Nation, with six people running for Chief including current Chief Lester Anoquot who is running for a third two-year term.
The other candidates for Chief are Janet M. Root, Brent Smith, Conrad Ritchie, John Stacey and Dr. Bimadoshka (Dolly) Pucan.
There are nine band council seats with 43 people running for a spot.
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the James Mason Memorial and Cultural Recreation Centre.
Electoral officers are asking voters to wear a mask and wash your hands or use sanitizer before voting, keep six feet from others and bring your own pen with you, (or they will give you a pen that you may keep).
