The Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular usually is in full swing at this time of the year, but based on COVID-19 concerns the Spectacular was cancelled this year.
However, the 2020 Denis Bester Memorial Shootout Classic is set to commence on Saturday August 29th and run for a week until September 5th.
The Shootout format allows each angler to enter just 3 fish.
The angler could catch 3 salmon, or 2 salmon and a trout, or 1 salmon and 2 trout or 3 trout as their entry.
The combined weight of the 3 catches is added up to create a final weight total and the angler with the heaviest combined total is the winner.
Along with the outlet the event provides, it also remains as a nice memorial testament to Denis Bester.
Plus, proceeds from the 2020 Denis Bester Shootout Classic will be directed to Big Brothers-Big Sisters Grey Bruce and the Salvation Army Food Bank.
