The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking for tips to help identify who was response for killing and dumping a black bear in Tobermory.
A report came in to the MNRF on Aug. 12 from a person who discovered a dead black bear in a bush area near the intersection of Dunks Bay Road and Centennial Drive.
According to a release from the Ministry, a conservation officer went to the scene and determined that sometime between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11, a bear had been shot and transported to the location of Centennial Drive and then dragged into the bush.
The bear was a large, mature male likely in its breeding prime.
The Ministry says this bear also had green MNRF tags affixed, indicating it had been trapped and relocated.
Anyone with information about this occurrence is asked to contact Conservation Officer Todd Cairns at 519-371-5493 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous.
