Earlier this month the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame Committee postponed their Induction Night for a second time.
Of course, these cancellations are not what the Committee wants, but like so many aspects of our lives, decisions are totally out of our hands.
Initially, the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame Induction Night was scheduled for May 4th and until mid-March everything was in order for another fabulous night.
COVID-19 forced the organizers to alter their celebration date and it was rescheduled to October 2nd.
When the Committee made their latest decision, the Provincial Government was in Stage 3 which permits 50 people to attend an inside event.
Advance ticket sales for the 2020 Owen Sound Sports Hall Induction Night were 6 times higher with more than 300 tickets purchased.
The Organizing Committee was informed by the Grey Bruce Health Unit in early August that there was little indication that the Ontario Government was planning to move to stage 4 in the short tem.
Therefore, the local Sports Hall of Fame Committee had no other choice but to cancel the October 2nd date.
Like many functions, the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame is in limbo.
Maybe sometime in 2021 ?
Whenever they do conduct the next Induction Night, you can be certain it will be staged only when it’s safe to do so.
And you can be certain too that whenever the next Induction Night is it will be another very special evening for the sporting community in the city and region.
