The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit continues to see mosquitoes test positive for the West Nile virus (WNv) in Alliston.
That has prompted a reminder that residents need to be careful to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
The first lab-confirmed evidence of the virus in Simcoe Muskoka this year was announced by the health unit on August 4 after mosquitoes collected from a trap in Alliston tested positive.
It says subsequent mosquito pools in the area have also tested positive for the virus.
Enjoy the outdoors, without a mosquito bite! Use a personal insect replellent; wear long sleeve shirts and pants; and keep your property free of mosquito breeding sites. #fighthebite #SMDHU #PublicHealth https://t.co/oaVMQfLu9p pic.twitter.com/wgcXKRwo46
