Police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted an officer at a RIDE check in Huntsville.
Police say the incident happened just before 1am on Saturday on the Highway 11 off ramp to 592 near Novar, where a white Toyota Corolla was stopped and the driver failed to produce I.D.
Officers suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Police say one of the officers approached the passenger side of the vehicle and saw the driver reach under the seat, so the man was told to turn off the car, but instead drove away, forcing the officer to fall in the car.
The driver ended up crashing into a concrete barrier on southbound Highway 11 and took off on foot, leaving the officer behind with minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a black man, with dark cornrow style shorter hair, about 5’10” to 6′ tall, with a thin build.
He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.
