Saugeen Shores Police say they have arrested and charged a man after a robbery at a downtown Port Elgin convenience store.
Police say they were called about the incident just before 2:30 Wednesday morning. (Aug 12).
According to police, a man forced his way into the closed store where he was confronted by an employee who was still finishing up for the day.
Police say a brief struggle followed and the man assaulted the employee, allowing for an escape.
Officers immediately responded and could not locate the suspect.
The incident was captured on video surveillance.
Police took to social media with images of the suspect and say soon after, a man showed up at the station to surrender to police.
A Bruce County man has been charged with:
Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
Assault
Police say he was released on a undertaking with a court date. They did not release the man's name or date of court appearance.
