Huron Perth Public Health say they have received questions and comments, regarding large gatherings during Stage 3 of the region’s re-opening.
The province allowed Huron and Perth counties to enter Stage 3 of re-opening from COVID-19 lockdown measures on July 17th.
That means indoor gatherings of up to 50 people were permitted, along with outdoor gatherings up to 100 people.
HPPH officials say they no not approve or deny large organized events.
Instead, they ensure “the guidance and protocols, as defined in the province’s reopening framework, are strictly adhered to at all stages of reopening.”
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen, says “The role of the local public health unit is to work with the event operator, before and during the event, to ensure that proper public health measures are being followed.”
“Public health does have the ability to intervene and impose restrictions during the event if public health measures are not being followed.”
