Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has ended its investigation into the June 26th arrest of a Barrie man.
That night, Barrie Police responded to a Bayview Drive domestic disturbance.
A man was arrested, taken into custody and lodged in a cell at the Barrie Police Service station. While in the cell, he was seen grabbing his throat area.
On June 27th at 12:12 a.m., the man was sent to the hospital where he required surgery to his throat area.
The SIU says there’s no criminal liability on the part of the police and that the man’s injury was caused by a third party prior to his arrest that day.
