
The United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin has announced thousands of dollars in a grant to help local organizations with COVID-19 efforts in Dufferin County.
$120,000 will flow through the Emergency Community Support Fund to support the vulnerable in our community through the pandemic.
Interim Executive Director at the United Way Rick McCombie says challenges already being faced in the community have been made worse by the pandemic and the funding has allowed the community partners more flexibility in how they can help people.
Four community organizations will benefit from the support fund in Dufferin, including the Orangeville Food Bank who will receive $75,000 for their emergency food and perishable food program.
$10,000 will be given to Compass Community Church and Shepherd’s Cupboard Foodbank partnership in Shelburne
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dufferin will get $15-thousand towards their Virtual Mentoring Program, and $20-thousand will be allotted to the Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin for infection prevention and control measures.
