Shack Passes
Former NHL'er Eddie Shack passed away on the weekend.
Known as ” Eddie the Entertainer “, Shack played more than 1,000 NHL games, scored 239 goals and won 4 Stanley Cups with Toronto.
A native of Sudbury, Shack played parts of 17 seasons with 6 different teams, including 9 years combined with the Maple Leafs.
Hawerchuk Continues Fight
Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk is battling a recurrence of his cancer
Hawerchuk completed chemotherapy treatments in April after taking a leave of absence from the Barrie Colts, as the Head Coach of the Ontario Hockey League club last September.
In the NHL, Hawerchuk scored 518 goals.
As coach of the Colts, he led Barrie to the playoffs in 6 of the 9 years he coached the club
Chayka Resigns/Quits
John Chayka has terminated his contract as General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League
Chayka cites ownership as the reason for his leaving the club prior to the NHL’s Return to Play.
Under Chayka, the Coyotes missed the playoffs 3 years in a row before making it to this season’s NHL playoff qualifying round.
