Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has said bylaw charges have been laid, following a massive party in the city.
Brown tweeted yesterday, the “Maximum penalty is $100,000. Reckless behaviour is expensive.”
He said the charges were laid against the property owners where the party was held.
Peel Police say they broke up a house party attended by as many as 200 people on Saturday night, which was in pure violation of provincial emergency orders enacted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Neighbours had called in noise complaints and officers quickly responded.
Brampton remains in Stage 2 of the province’s reopening plan, so only gatherings of 10 people are allowed.
I can confirm #Brampton by law officers laid charges on the propety owners. The matter will be going to court. Maximum penalty is $100,000. Reckless behavior is expensive. @CityBrampton @PeelPolice https://t.co/zF2cSxWFIW
