Caledon OPP worked with other law-enforcement agencies across North America for a week-long campaign.
They say “Operation Safe Driver” ran from July 12th-July 18th, 2020.
During the campaign, Caledon OPP targeted unsafe driving behaviours among commercial and non-commercial motor vehicle drivers.
They say speed, improper lane changes, following too closely, driver inattention and losing control are lead contributing factors in OPP-investigated collisions year after year.
Caledon OPP handed out 453 tickets for speeding, 37 for not wearing a seatbelt, 6 for distracted driving and over 120 for other driving violations.
In addition to those charges, the officers stopped 40 Commercial Motor Vehicles over the week.
They charged 18 with speeding, 7 with seatbelt violations and one for distracted driving along with six document related charges.
