A search in the Orangeville area on Sunday failed to find a suspect that police say left the scene of an accident.
Sunday July 19th, just before 7 pm, officers from Dufferin OPP were called to a fail to remain collision on Highway 10 near Hockley Road.
Officers were notified while on their way to the scene that a black sedan had collided with another vehicle near Highway 10 and 4th Avenue in Orangeville.
The vehicle then left the road and came to rest in the ditch, four people got out and one fled.
The canine and ERT units were brought out to search and Highway 10 from 4th Avenue to Buena Vista Drive was closed for a period of time.
There were no reported injuries.
Dufferin OPP are aware of multiple social media posts made at the time of this incident purporting that there had been a shooting, but they say there is no information to suggest there was a shooting and there are no concerns for the safety of the public.
If you were a witness to these collisions or have information to provide investigators, please contact Dufferin OPP at 519 925 3838. Those wishing to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers.
