A number of supports for businesses in Saugeen Shores are available as the region enters Stage 3 of the Ontario government's re-opening plan.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau says in a statement town council and staff are working with local partners to deliver timely, effective initiatives to support the community's businesses during the pandemic.
“The Mayor's task force on economy recovery continues to meet regularly, providing valuable insight on Saugeen Shores' economy and how the municipality can support local businesses,” Charbonneau says.
One of those initiatives is a collaboration between the Town of Saugeen Shores, and the Port Elgin and Southampton BIAs to provide downtown businesses with floor decals, signs and posters to help promote public health guidelines such as physical distancing to ensure safety while operating.
“Through this partnership, downtown businesses are able to obtain these materials free of charge by contacting their local BIA Board of Management,” a statement from the Town explains.
Meantime, town officials advise businesses looking to purchase personal protective equipment can soon access a new online portal being launched by Bruce Power called Strength in Numbers.
“This collaboration between Bruce Power and their Ontario-based suppliers will allow requestors to purchase PPE directly from Bruce Power supply partners,” a release from the Town of Saugeen Shores explains.
The official opening of the online portal is expected to come the week of July 27.
