The City of Barrie is trying to help its waste contractor beat the heat.
During Environment Canada-declared severe heat and humidity warnings in Barrie, the City’s waste contractor will start collecting curbside garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste materials at 5:30 am.
If there’s an early collection time on these days, the City wants residents to put their waste out for curbside collection the night before, any time after 7 pm or very early in the morning (before 5:30 am) on collection day.
The early collection time will only be in effect on days when Environment Canada has declared a heat warning.
The City will post notifications of early curbside collection start times on their website, Facebook and Twitter pages by 5 pm on the day before each impacted collection day.
