The Town of Orangeville has the results of a survey of the community when it comes to tourism.
In May of this year, they started the process of developing a five year Tourism Strategy and Action Plan to incorporate COVID-19 recovery measures to assist in economic development.
Some of the things community members would like to see includes:
Arts and Culture should be a core focus of the Tourism Strategy as it plays an important role in the community from the Theatre to festivals.
The idea for a Town Plaza in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan should be considered.
Some want to see the return of the Credit Valley Explorer on the railway tracks, others would like to see a walking or cycling trail.
Local transportation like a shuttle service could help open the downtown more to pedestrians with less traffic.
Decisions on street closures should consider the needs of downtown businesses, and owners of those businesses should work together to come up with an effective solution to that.
People would also like to see year-round activities for families. Ultimately residents would like to see more awareness of what the town and surrounding area has to offer and they would like to see the small town charm maintained in Orangeville.
