The Avon Maitland District School Board will be offering mental health support to students this summer, through a newly created phone line.
The Mental Health Information and Support like will allow students or families to call for information, for mental health support, or a referral or connection to another local service provider.
Staff with the board’s Mental Health and Well-being Team will run the support line Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at 226-378-8931, for the remainder of the summer.
In May, the AMDSB hired a mindfulness specialist to teach students techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.
The Board also approved a new strategic plan in June, which looks to address numeracy and literacy, attendance rates, and mental health.
