The Gravenhurst Fire Department has been battling a large brush fire on the west side of Hwy 11 just south of the Bethune Drive exit this afternoon.
They’ve asked motorists to reduce their speed in the area where they are operating.
Mid-afternoon the department reported that embers from the 1st fire started a 2nd one hundreds of feet south of the first.
Crews had to work very hard under difficult conditions to bring both blazes under control.
The Department reports that two firefighters were treated on-scene by paramedics for heat-related stress.
The department remains on-scene working hot-spots.
