TFC Reluctant To Depart
Toronto FC head coach Greg Vanney would like to delay his team's departure to the ” MLS is Back Tournament ” in Florida.
Vanney states his team feels comfortable and safe in Toronto while the situation is less stable in Florida,
Six members of FC Dallas recently tested positive for coronavirus.
Vanney says his players wants to take part in the tournament and are motivated to go deep into the World-Cup style event, but remaining in Canada for an additional period might allow for more clarity in terms of health and safety among MLS squads.
TFC is scheduled to open tournament play next Friday against D.C. United.
Jays Camp Approved
The Toronto Blue Jays got federal clearance to hold summer camp in Toronto.
The government granted an exemption that will allow the Blue Jays to modify the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for travellers entering Canada.
The Jays will create a closed environment at the Rogers Centre and the attached Marriott City Centre Hotel, which has a block of their 348 rooms reserved for baseball purposes.
However, where the club will play their Major League Baseball games this season is still a question mark.
The Blue Jays next step is to convince the government that visiting teams coming to Toronto for the club’s 30 home games will adhere to the quarantine rules that are in place for the training camp.
Toronto, Buffalo and Dunedin at various times have been cited as potential spots for Blue Jays Home games in 2020.
NHL/Tory Impressed
Toronto Mayor John Tory say he is impressed with the National Hockey League's plan for the Hub City hosts.
Reports on Wednesday indicated barring last-minute complications, Edmonton and Toronto have been chosen as hub cities for the NHL’s resumption of play, which is expected to begin later this summer.
The NHL has not yet made an official announcement on hub cities.
NBA Notes
The National Basketball Association is considering staging a second “bubble” in Chicago for the 8 teams that were not invited to play in the resumption of the season later this month in Florida.
The concept is to enable the non-playoff teams to participate in a mini-training camp and subsequent games against other clubs.
The target date for the 2nd bubble event would be in September.
The National Basketball Association and the Players Association have confirmed 9 positive test results for the coronavirus.
The tests were administered to 344 players in late June.
The NBA reports 25 of 351 players have tested positive for the virus.
Also, of 884 team staff tests, 10 have come back positive.
The NBA is scheduled to restart the current season on July 30th at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with no fans in attendance.

FedEx, the title sponsor of the Washington Redskins’ stadium, wants the National Football League team to change its name.
The company paid the team $205 million in 1999 for the naming rights to FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
FedEx CEO Frederik Smith is a minority owner of the team.
Majority owner Daniel Snyder has shown no indications he’ll change the name.

NFL Protocol
National Football League players will likely participate under a number of coronavirus-related restrictions on the field and off if they conduct a 2020 season.
The players could be wearing specially designed face masks and potentially be fined for off-field activities that lead to the spread of the virus.
The NFL Players Association conducted a 2-hour conference call with team player reps yesterday and the call centered on the protocols the league and the union have been discussing to allow players to participate in training camp and the regular season amid the pandemic.
