Public Health Grey Bruce confirms there was an indeterminate case of COVID-19 at the McDonald's in Port Elgin reported on Saturday to the Health Unit, and adds the public should not be concerned.
The restaurant closed for a period over the weekend for a deep cleaning. It has since reopened.
Public health says the choice to close was beyond their own recommendation and say at this time, there is no need for people to be concerned.
In a media release, the Health Unit says “It is our protocol to investigate each probable or Indeterminate Case with the same rigour as Confirmed Positive. The Infectious Disease team at the Grey Bruce Health Unit completed the required Case and Contact Management as per public health protocols within 3 hours of receiving the lab result, and ensured all close contacts are safe and acting appropriately to prevent further transmission.”
It adds, if an individual had connection to the restaurant as a worker or as a customer, and was not contacted by public health, there is no need for the individual to be concerned.
Public Health says it contacted all close contacts, and is managing their isolation as required.
