The Federal government is giving the agriculture sector a nearly $100 million boost.
The money will be put towards the new Merit Functional Foods location in Winnipeg.
The funding boost is aimed at keeping Canada a world leader in plant-based proteins and will support Canadian farmers who produce yellow peas and canola.
“Standing up for hard working farmers, creating good jobs, setting up Canada for success on the world stage – these are things our government will always get behind,” said Trudeau.
Trudeau says thinking outside the box will serve us well and bring together Canadian crops and well-paying jobs.
