No more hate in Collingwood.
Collingwood council unanimously decided last night to approve a motion ordering town staff to find a way to ban the display of symbols of hate and racial intolerance in both public and private spaces.
The motion, which was presented by Councillor Yvonne Hamlin, was actually sparked by an online petition launched late last year by Abigail Hitchens, whose neighbour put a Confederate flag on display in front of his home.
The petition had received over 29-thousand signatures and the flag has since been removed.
