Temperature screening will now be mandatory for air passengers and staff in Canada.
That’s the latest from PM Justin Trudeau who announced new measures today to protect the air travel sector and public.
Starting soon, the government is mandating temperature screening for all air travellers and staff starting in a phased approach.
“First for those travelling to Canada, then for those travelling from Canada and finally for those travelling within Canada,” he said.
Trudeau says this is in addition to mandatory mask wearing on flights.
Passengers with fevers will no longer be allowed to fly.
Trudeau says the checks wont detect Covid-19 for certain, but he says it is an extra layer of protection that can have positive effects – IE: by deterring people who feel sick from travelling to airports and from moving on to flights if they have fevers.
It’s hoped that the new measures will add another level of protection.
