It turns out there will be washrooms to use once the Port Elgin Main Beach re-opens Friday.
The Town of Saugeen Shores says in a release limited washroom access at the Beach House at the Port Elgin Main Beach will available once the beach opens June 12.
When announcing plans to re-open the beach last week. the Town had indicated there were still no public washrooms available for use.
As more beaches and more amenities begin to re-open, Saugeen Shores town staff say public washrooms will gradually open back up.
In addition to the washroom at the Beach House at the Port Elgin Main Beach, the Town says washrooms at the BMTS downtown, 10th Concession, Southampton Town Hall and Millard Boulevard by the Big Flag will open by Friday.
By June 19, the Town says washrooms at Gobles Grove, the Chamber of Commerce, Gerry's Fries and the Water Rescue Stations will re-open.
“Services at Town amenities will increase on a weekly basis as seasonal staff are gradually added,” a statement from the Town explains. “Instead of a full day at the beach, however, the public may wish to consider shorter visits to the beach, which put less demand on washrooms and garbage disposal.”
Beach-goers are urged to practice physical distancing while adhering to provincial emergency orders still in place, such as restrictions on social gatherings. As of Friday, the province's order limiting the number of people that can gather increases to 10 people.
