Ontario’s Stage 2 reopening is set to start this Friday June 12th at 12:01 am.
Many regions in Ontario will be able to reopen then, including Simcoe-Muskoka and Grey Bruce.
It’s when places like restaurants and hair salons, barber shops, indoor shopping malls, beaches, summer day camps and more will be allowed to reopen – some with restrictions.
As well, gatherings of five to 10 people can happen starting Friday.
Places of worship can also reopen June 12th at 30 percent building capacity.
Ford says Stage 2 will allow people to resume many parts of ordinary daily life.
“We need to get the economy going and to do this as quickly as possible,” said Ford. “We’re moving forward with a regional approach and we’re moving forward with an approach that lets us make decisions for specific parts of Ontario based on what’s happening on the ground.”
The decisions are all based on recommendations from the Province’s health table.
Places like Durham, Toronto, Peel and Hamilton will remain in Stage 1 pending a further lowering of cases.
A new childcare announcement will come tomorrow.
In the meantime, Ford has also ordered legislation to ban evictions covering from June 3 to Aug 31st to protect small business owners.
