Ontario’s Stage 2 reopening process won’t happen immediately and the Province needs more money.
That’s the takeaway today as Premier Doug Ford said the Federal restart package of $14 billion announced for the entire country won’t cut it for Ontario.
Ford says it could cost up to $23 billion alone in Ontario to recoup from Covid-19.
This includes covering impacts on healthcare, funding for ppe, municipalities, the most vulnerable and childcare costs.
Ford thanked PM Justin Trudeau for today’s pledge, but said the money falls short.
“And today’s announcement from the Federal Government – It must be the start of the conversation, not the end,” said Ford.
The Premier says the next steps in restarting the economy will happen in the future.
Stage 2 of Ontario’s reopening won’t begin immediately.
Next week a phased plan for reopening childcare safely will be announced so the Province can support parents when they eventually return to work.
