The Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) in Penetanguishene has its first positive case of COVID-19.
Officials say a new inmate to the facility was confirmed to have the virus on Sunday, after being tested prior to being admitted.
They say the individual has since been isolated.
The case is one of 9 reported in the latest update by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on Monday.
There are also three new cases in Barrie, a man in Essa, an Oro-Medonte woman in her 40s, a Severn man in his 30s, an Innisfil man in his 30s and a man is his 60’s from Gravenhurst–the first in Muskoka since April 13th.
