The Federal Government is working to improve its personal protective equipment (PPE) production capacity.
Whether through funding Canadian businesses that are developing methods of rapid Covid-19 testing or helping to set up plants to manufacture test kits, PM Justin Trudeau says the government is supporting provinces and territories quest for supplies.
So far, the government has received over 100 million surgical masks and 40 million gloves and signed contracts for millions of syringes for when a vaccine is ready.
“Since Day 1 our government has been working around the clock to secure vital ppe,” he said.
Trudeau adds that the demand for ppe supplies will only go up.
He says the government continues working with suppliers around the world, but at the end of the day ensuring we have what we need is done by making it right here at home.
We’re focused on getting our front line workers the supplies and personal protective equipment they need to stay healthy and keep you safe. And this morning, I’m giving an update on that work and more – watch it live here: https://t.co/9dqEBoszo2
