The family of an Orillia woman who was killed in a crash six years ago is outraged the man responsible for her death is now out on day parole.
Shania Slater was only 18 years old in 2014 when the truck she was a passenger in crashed into the cement median on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte.
After the crash, police determined the driver, Andrew Fallows, had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system and moved Slater into the driver seat to make it look like she was driving at the time of the crash.
The young woman later died in hospital.
Fallows was sentenced to 9 years behind bars, after being found guilty of impaired driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving and dangerous operation causing death.
According to CTV Barrie, Fallows was deemed a low risk to the community by the parole board and rewarded for seeking treatment for addiction while in prison.
As part of his sentence, Fallows is prohibited from using drugs or alcohol and is banned from driving for 12 years.
