The region’s top doc says the demand for COVID-19 tests is going up.
Doctor Charles Gardner with the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit says assessment centres in the region saw three times the regular volume of traffic on Monday, after the Premier encouraged anyone who was concerned about the virus to go get a test.
Gardner says while he supports the decision, he says priority will always be given to those who are showing symptoms and believe they’ve been exposed to the virus.
Gardner also said the test is not perfect, and people could end up with false-negative results, but still end up developing symptoms and transmitting the virus.
The SMDHU reported four new cases of COVID-19 in the region yesterday: two Barrie men and two women from New Tecumseth.
