Today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outlined three key areas the Federal government has identified to deal with Covid-19 into the future.
They include ramped-up testing, accelerating contact tracing and sharing Covid-19 data across jurisdictions.
It’s these measures that will bring people and businesses more peace of mind, he suggested, as the economy starts its recovery.
“They need to know that we have a coordinated approach to gradually reopen that is rooted in science, evidence and the ability to rapidly detect and control any future outbreaks,” he said.
Trudeau says the Federal government has trained employees who can already make 3,600 contact tracing calls per day, but that there are also 1,700 extra interviewers at-the-ready who can make an extra 20,000 calls per day if needed.
The PM recently met with the Premiers for the 10th time during the crisis, and says they agreed these steps are key to containing future waves of Covid-19.
A new online portal was unveiled today too, to make finding financial aid info simpler.
People can now visit Canada.ca/coronavirusbenefits to find the information they are looking for.
