West Grey has lifted its municipal fire ban.
The ban covered all open air burns. But, unlike some other areas in Grey Bruce that had shunned campfires in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak, West Grey still allowed them.
The decision comes a day after Bruce County Fire Chiefs ended a sweeping ban on all burns, including recreational and agricultural fires, that had been in place since early April.
“The West Grey Fire Chief would like to caution people to take care when burning as conditions are still favourable for grass fires, due to the amount of dead grass from winter kill,” a statement from the Municipality of West Grey explains.
Burn Permits are available at the Office of the Fire Chief for the Municipality of West Grey.
