The City of Barrie will reopen the Tiffin Boat Launch on Saturday.
In response to the Province’s reopening announcement yesterday, the Launch, located at Lakeshore Dr. and Tiffin St., will reopen under the following guidelines:
- You only boat with members of your household, no guests on board.
- Ensure a physical distance of at least two metres from people outside your household when using the launch.
- Keep your distance on the water—don’t raft.
The City reminds boaters to always wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device.
You should use caution in and around the launch, parking lot and access onto Lakeshore Dr. as it’s expected the area will be busy.
Barrie Marina
Barrie’s Marina, Marina boat launch and transient boat docks located at the base of Bayfield St. will reopen on Friday, May 22nd.
The Marina must be prepared and cleaned according to the provincial and health unit guidelines, and health and safety training for City staff must occur as a result of COVID-19 before the Marina can reopen. These preparations are currently taking place.
Dog Off-Leash Park and City tennis courts
The City’s Dog Off-Leash Recreation Area (DOLRA) on Bayview Dr. will reopen on Tuesday, May 19th.
Tennis courts are anticipated to reopen the week of May 25th.
Physical distancing and sanitation guidelines will remain in place. Maintenance work, safety checks and net installation need to be completed before the courts can open.
“We ask for continued patience and understanding as we follow provincial guidelines to gradually reopen our facilities,” says Michael Prowse, Chief Administrative Officer. “These additional protocols may result in some changes in service, but are in place to keep both Barrie residents and City staff safe and healthy.”
The City reminds residents to continue to follow public health guidelines: keep practicing physical distancing, no gatherings of more than five people and stay home if you are sick.
