Orillia is trying something new with parking to help local businesses and customers.
Starting today, all on-street parking spaces in the downtown are adapted to allow free parking for a maximum of 30 minutes each.
The City has also created “Curbside Pick-up” signs, which are available for download, for all businesses throughout Orillia.
The Province is allowing non-essential retail businesses with entrances facing the street to start offering curbside pick-up today.
Mayor Steve Clarke says the free parking will make it quick and easy for customers to support Orillia’s small and independent businesses as they start to ramp-up curbside pick up.
It is absolutely essential that everyone continue to follow the COVID-19 health and safety precautions that are still very much in place.” adds the Mayor.
“Orillia businesses are the lifeblood of our community,” says Councillor Ted Emond, Chair of Orillia’s Economic Recovery Task Force. “Now more than ever, it’s important to support the small and independent businesses who have been there to support our sports teams, charities and events over the years.”
