A repatriation ceremony will take place today at CFB Trenton, for the six Canadian Armed Forces members killed in a helicopter crash during Operation REASSURANCE
Following the ceremony at 2:30 this afternoon, the motorcade will proceed to Toronto, via the Highway of Heroes.
However, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, people are being encouraged to watch the ceremony online.
Premier Doug Ford said yesterday, “we are encouraging everyone to watch from their homes to pay their respects instead of gathering along the highway.”
The six members of the forces died when the helicopter they were in crashed on Wednesday, April 29 during a NATO training exercise
The body of Sub-Lieutenant Abbigail Cowbrough has been the only one recovered so far.
The other five will be represented by different military headgear, depending on whether they were members of the Royal Canadian Navy or Royal Canadian Air Force, which will be resting on pillows to be carried off the plane by fellow military members.
Those missing and presumed dead are:
-Capt. Brenden Ian MacDonald
-Capt. Kevin Hagen
-Capt. Maxime Miron-Morin
-Sub-Lt. Matthew Pyke
-and Master Cpl. Matthew Cousins

‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save’ is a traditional navy hymn. Today, we honour the six #CAF members who sadly lost their lives during a helicopter accident while deployed in the Mediterranean Sea.
