Port Elgin Pumpkinfest says it plans to go ahead this year, but with some key modifications.
The Board of Directors announced Tuesday, Pumpkinfest 2020 will take place on Oct 3rd, as originally planned, but will be presented as a web-based streaming event featuring its famous International Giant Vegetable Weigh-Off.
In a media release, the board says it's been working closely with the Grey-Bruce Health Unit and various levels of government to meet all guidelines and recommendations.
They say additional events will be added as the Pumpkinfest committees meet and start to format the new attractions and events.
Pumpinfest president Brad Scott says at this time there are no plans for in person events, which is in line with current government recommendations.
“If rules are changed there may be some opportunities,” Scott says in an email. “However, we are planning based on today's situation.”
