The Collingwood hospital wants you to know it is safe to come to the emergency department.
Chief of Staff for the Emergency Department, Dr. Kylie Booth, says they have been seeing a decline in the number of patients seeking care in the ED over the last couple of weeks.
Booth says it is not a unique situation to the Collingwood hospital as there are similar situations across the province and country.
She says she believes people may be worried about their safety, but also the community has been so wonderful and may not want to “bother” health care professionals.
But Dr. Booth says they are screening patients at the emergency department and have made changes so that each case can be treated, safely.
She says she doesn’t want people to delay coming in and waiting until their problem becomes serious.
