A repatriation ceremony has been held for the six CAF members who were killed when their helicopter crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.
It happened this afternoon at CFB Trenton with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan in attendance.
Family members holding flowers and others in attendance wore masks at the ceremony as Sub Lt. Abigail Cowbrough’s casket draped with a Canadian flag was slowly carried out of a CC-177 Globemaster by fellow military members.
In the background the bagpipes played…
The five other Canadian Forces personnel who are now presumed dead were also honoured at the ceremony.
People were urged to watch virtually as Cowbrough’s body was transported from Trenton to Toronto along the Highway of Heroes for a coroner’s examination.
Today, a repatriation ceremony will be held to honour the six members of the @CanadianForces who were lost last week. As we keep their loved ones in our thoughts, I invite all Canadians to pay their respects from home and watch the ceremony here: https://t.co/qDb81WNkae
