Canada is helping the battle against Covid-19 beyond its borders
This morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Canada is providing $850 million to international efforts to fight the virus.
He made the announcement at the EU Global Covid-19 Donor Conference.
The money will go towards Canadian and international research for vaccine development and treatments.
“The more we cooperate, the more likely we find a cure and find it quickly,” said Trudeau. “And that’s something we all want to see.”
On the home front, the PM says even though the weather is nicer, don’t go out unless you absolutely have to. If you do, keep two meters apart from other people.
He also asked that this afternoon the country mark the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands and the Victory in Europe.
You are urged to take part in two minutes of silence eastern time at 2 pm today in honour of our veterans.
We’re working hard to make sure researchers and innovators have what they need to develop treatments and vaccines for COVID-19 – and today, Canada is joining other countries to expand those efforts. Watch live for more info: https://t.co/WPDW9ax6cc
