The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has cleared a Huntsville OPP officer of any wrongdoing following a chase and crash last summer.
In August last year, police say an OPP officer from the Huntsville detachment was manning a simulated RIDE checkpoint on Main Street West when he signalled the driver of an Audi to stop.
However, police say the driver refused, leading to the brief chase.
The Audi eventually crashed into a parked car resulting in injuries to the 32-year-old male driver and his 24-year-old female passenger.
The director of the SIU, Joseph Martino says “There are no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer either caused or contributed to the collision.”
