The Police Federation is asking Canadians to wear something red today and pause for two minutes to show support for the people of Nova Scotia and the families of those who tragically lost their lives this past weekend.
Twenty thousand members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police across Canada are also preparing to pay their respects to Constable Heidi Stevenson, who was killed this past weekend while trying to stop the gunman.
But for the first time, the RCMP will not be able to hold a regimental funeral due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
So, the National Police Federation is instead calling on all Canadians to stand in their driveway or lawn to mourn the 22 Nova Scotia victims together at 1 o’clock this afternoon (2 Atlantic Time).
Then an online vigil will be held on Facebook tonight.
