Huron Shores Hospice has received a $10,000 donation from the Port Elgin Rotary Club.
The contribution is part of the rotary club's commitment to provide $50,000 over five years. It is in support of Hearts for Hospice fundraising efforts to bring a second residential hospice bed to south Bruce County.
Plans are currently underway to add a second bed at Huron Shores Hospice this year to better serve the area's residents.
“We are pleased to support Huron Shores Hospice and the great work they are doing. We truly believe in their mission to provide quality end-of-life care to residents of south Bruce County,” says Port Elgin Rotary Club president Steven Dennison. “This is a valuable service for our local community and we are proud to contribute ensuring this service is sustainable and help with the efforts to bring a second bed into service.”
A sign of the times, the donation was presented to Huron Shores Hospice board co-chair Cheryl Cottrill over a video conference call.
Cottrill says Huron Shores Hospice is grateful for the support at a time when main of the organization's major fundraisers have to be cancelled.
“It gives all our volunteers a boost to know that organizations care and support the work we are doing to provide quality end-of-life care and grief recovery to our community,” says Cottrill. “Now more than ever, the hospice approach is needed to ensure that the most vulnerable are cared for and their concerns, fears and hopes are heard. The generosity of spirit shown in making this donation is the bedrock of all that is good about our community.”
Huron Shores Hospice is a charitable not-for-profit, volunteer-led, community-funded residential hospice, providing quality end-of-life care, at no cost, to residents of Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss and surrounding areas.
