Owen Sound police have laid charges in an arson investigation.
Police say On Wednesday, (April 22) the Criminal Investigations Branch of the Owen Sound Police Service concluded an investigation into two suspicious fires that took place at a west side apartment building.
Police say the fires occurred on August 15, 2019 and February 29, 2020.
The Owen Sound Fire Department responded to each of the fires and police say they were successful in limiting the spread of the flames and damage was confined to a small area.
Police say no one was injured in the fires.
Detectives worked with the Fire Department and representatives of the apartment building police say, resulted in the discovery of evidence confirming that the fires were deliberately set.
A female youth of Owen Sound has been arrested and charged with two counts of Arson- damage to property and is scheduled to appear at the Youth Court of Justice in July, 2020.
Police say the accused cannot be identified as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
