New outbreaks of Covid-19 have been reported at two long term care (LTC) homes in Barrie
The Simcoe-Muskoka Covid-19 caseload increased today by eight new cases to 218.
A 15th death for the region has also been reported by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. It’s a woman in her 90s at Bradford Valley Community Care (BVCC).
In addition to the outbreak at BVCC, the Health Unit confirms two new respiratory outbreaks of the virus at the Woods Park Care Centre and I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellow and Rebekah House) in Barrie. All residents and staff at both facilities will undergo testing after two staff, one at each facility, were announced as cases.
202 of the current 218 cases are throughout Simcoe County, while the case count is holding in Muskoka at 16.
Dr. Charles Gardner says there’s been no big surge impact on the local healthcare system so far, but everyone needs to continue social distancing and self monitoring.
